The wife of the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) for the 2023 general election, Mrs Margaret Peter Obi on Wednesday distributed palliatives to women of Ebonyi State as part of her contribution to helping them to cushion the effects of the Naira redesign and swap policies in Nigeria.
Mrs Obi represented by the wife of the Ebonyi LP gubernatorial candidate, Lady Mary Nkwegu distributed the palliatives including cantons of semo-vita, macaroni, magic, tomatoes, condiments and other foodstuff with Labour Party bangles to the Labour Party women at Abakaliki, the state capital.
She commended the Ebonyi LP women for their solidarity with her husband, Peter Obi for his 2023 ambition, especially their massive turnout during the presidential campaign rally of the Labour Party in the state.
Mrs Obi however, lamented the high cost of foodstuff and condiments with no sufficient cash in circulation even the financial institutions and urged the women to be committed to canvassing for the landslide victory of her husband in the 25th February Presidential Poll.
The wife of the LP presidential candidate distributed the palliatives to the representatives of the women who were the wives of the Labour candidates and women leaders of the party cutting across the 13 local government areas of the state.
NATIONAL PANEL reports that Mrs Obi's gesture was highly commended by the Ebonyi women through their leaders including the member of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council - Mrs Agatha Ezeogo, the LP Women Leader in the South East Zone -Jacinta Nwite, the LP women leader in Ebonyi State - Princess Nkemdirim Ojeh, the leader of the Akwa Ibom Women in Ebonyi State - Mrs Christiana Bassey and other representatives of the female-folks from Yoruba, Hausa/Fulani among other communities in the state.
Other women who came from different council areas while speaking through their leaders including Elizabeth Nwabueze (Ivo), Nwite Jacinta (Ishielu), Nweke victoria (Ezza South), Onyinye Enigwe (Ebonyi), Ifeoma Dandi (Onicha), Rita Chibueze (Ohaukwu), Amaracha Louis (Ohaozara), Ngozi Nwanjoku (Ezza North), Cordelia Ukpai (Afikpo South), Nnenwa Nwaobasi (Ikwo), Chinedu Ekoh (Ekoh), Lady Mary Nkwegu (Izzi) maintained that no other party would beat the Labour Party on 25th February presidential poll in Ebonyi State.
According to them, the forthcoming general elections have woken the consciousness of Nigerians, especially the women and assured that they would translate their solidarity for Peter Obi's victory with their Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs in the state.
The women who were in a happy mood while receiving the palliatives from the Obi's wife expressed their readiness to use the PVCs to pay their husbands back at the poll on February 25. "Use your PVCs and secure your future; PVC means Peter's Victory Card on the 25th February 2023, vote Peter Obi, vote Labour Party, vote Papa, Mama and Pikin," Lady Nkwegu said.
