The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) agent for the collation and declaration of the Ebonyi governorship election, Mr Mudi Erhenede says he still signed the election's result sheet despite its glaring imperfections.
Erhenede made the declaration in Abakaliki against the backdrop of some party agents' refusal to sign the sheet due to alleged irregularities.
The legal adviser of the PDP in Ebonyi said that he still signed the sheet because he was part of the process that produced it.
"I know that in law, signing the result sheet or not does not make any difference.
"I signed the result sheet not because I believe in it and was part of the process which produced it.
"Signing the result sheet is a part of the electoral process and I am proud to be the agent of the PDP."
He noted that he had equitably discharged his duties assigned to him by the party and did his best in the prevailing circumstances.
"Tempers were high during the collation and hot words were exchanged but I will still make some points on the processes that have led us to this stage.
"I am a Nigerian and will say that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) failed to meet the expectations of the PDP and Nigerians."
Erhenede however observed that there would always be winners and losers in every contest and there were provisions in the law for any party that wants to seek redress in court.
"I will take back whatever we have collected with its imperfections and we will sit to take a proper decision.
"I signed the result to have something to present to. my principal who gave me the job to do."
