The member representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency, Comrade Chinedu Ogah says he is eminently qualified to contest the Speakership position of the House of Representatives.
Ogah who said it is not ideal to narrow the positions to individuals without consulting the APC leaders in the Southeast region of Nigeria, called the members elect for the tenth House of Representatives to support him for the Speakership position.
"You cannot say zoning the position of House of Representatives Speaker to the Southeast without the consent of the governors, leaders, aspirants, those elected in that party in the particular zone.
"I'm urging my colleagues and all the 360 members to support and vote for me. That the vote they are giving to me is the vote of trust and understanding. It's a vote of proper legislative delivery which will give us hope."
Ogah gave assurance that if elected that he would play a strategic role to end the agitations going on in the Southeast region.
"We are elected by those people who are agitating, we should go back and ask questions. They should tell us what to do, and that's our duty as those holding their mandate, by doing the right thing to give them a dividend of democracy. If there is a proper dividend of democracy for the people in those areas, there will be no agitation.
We are going to do that if I'm elected as the Deputy Speaker. It's not by violence and not by war. It's all by a brain and understanding with the people.
Ogah said that he has all takes to occupy the position of the speaker of the House of Representatives.
