Stakeholders from Ezza North/Ishielu Federal Constituency of Ebonyi State have rallied behind the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2027 House of Representatives election, Chief Chidiebere Paul Egah, popularly known as Double Chief.
The stakeholders, drawn from communities across Ezza North and Ishielu Local Government Areas, described Egah as an acceptable and competent candidate capable of providing effective representation to the constituency at the National Assembly.
Their declaration of support came barely a week after a coalition of groups from Igboessa, Ezzagu and Ezza North adopted Egah as their preferred candidate to succeed the incumbent representative of the constituency, Hon. Joseph Nwobasi.
Speaking on the development, an elder statesman, Chief Francis Igboke, said the people of Ishielu Local Government Area had reached a consensus to support Egah, whom he described as a philanthropist with a demonstrated commitment to the welfare and development of the people.
Igboke said, “The people of Ishielu Local Government Area have spoken with one voice. We have resolved to vote for our son and philanthropist, Chief Chidiebere Paul Egah, popularly known as Double Chief.
“This young man has demonstrated love, competence and capacity. In the private sector, Chief Egah has given succour to many people, empowered youths and contributed significantly to the development of several communities across Ezza North and Ishielu Federal Constituency.”
According to him, Egah’s decision to seek elective office was a welcome development, arguing that his antecedents in philanthropy and community service had positioned him to provide quality representation at the National Assembly.
“We received his political aspiration as a welcome development for our federal constituency, and we believe that he is deeply committed to offering quality representation in the National Assembly,” he said.
Igboke further said the constituency was yearning for effective representation and that stakeholders had identified Egah as a credible candidate capable of addressing the aspirations of the people.
“The people of the federal constituency are yearning for good representation, and we have chosen him as a credible replacement. We will mobilise massively to support and vote for him, and we urge everyone to support his aspiration so that he can consolidate and further advance his philanthropic and humanitarian services to our people,” he added.
Also speaking, the leader of the Ezillo People’s Vanguard, Comrade Timothy Egba, said the PDP had regained its political foothold in Ishielu Local Government Area, assuring the party’s candidate of the support of the group and its members.
Egba said Egah’s consultations across the local government had generated significant grassroots support, noting that the candidate had reached out to communities and stakeholders across the area.
“Let me start from Ezillo community. The outcome of his consultations was massive. He has permeated all the nooks and crannies of Ishielu Local Government Area,” Egba said.
He added that Egah’s emergence as the PDP candidate had generated considerable political momentum, while his record of empowerment and community interventions had distinguished him from other aspirants.
“Since his emergence as the candidate of the PDP, his opponents have been afraid. When you look at his track record, you will agree with me that he is unmatchable.
“He has been empowering our people, providing succour and contributing to community development. This is the time to reward him and vote for him to represent our constituency in the National Assembly,” Egba said.
The stakeholders’ endorsement is expected to further shape the political contest for the Ezza North/Ishielu Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general election, with supporters of Egah pledging to intensify grassroots mobilisation across the two local government areas.
