...Salutes governor-elect
Mr John Chukwu, the Vice Chairman of the Persons With Disabilities (PWD) in Ezza North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State has urged the Ebonyi gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Ifeanyi Odii and his counterpart of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Prof Ifeanyi Odoh to repeal their claims against their State Governor-elect Francis Nwifuru in the election petition tribunal following the March 18 poll outcome, which did not favour them.
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Nwifuru the winner of the March 18 gubernatorial poll, and as well issued him the Certificate of Return for having scored the highest votes cast during the exercise.
Odii and Odoh who according to the results collated and announced by the INEC, came second and third respectively have moved to the Ebonyi State Election Petition Tribunal to challenge the Nwifuru's victory; alleging irregularities trailed the election exercise.
But Chukwu who expressed joy over 'the landslide victory of Nwifuru as the fourth Executive Governor-elect in Ebonyi,' described him as a child of destiny while interacting with newsmen in Abakaliki, the State capital on Wednesday.
The Vice Chairman advised Odii, Odoh, and other challengers of the March 18 gubernatorial election to stop what he described as unnecessary litigations against the exercise, saying the God of equity, fairness and natural justice has bestowed victory upon Nwifuru and no man can stop him.
He described Nwifuru as a friend of Persons With Disabilities (PWDs), widows, orphans and downtrodden people in the society.
"Nwifuru is a man with a sincere vision to build people without discrimination, especially the less privileged ones. He is a friend of the physically challenged people, because I have seen in several events where he had merriments with our members, and helped widows, orphans and other less privileged people.
"He is a child of destiny, and his good character with his leadership disposition had earned him greater feat as the Ebonyi Governor-elect.
"So, I want to advise Ifeanyi Odii and Ifeanyi Odoh and anybody challenging the victory of Ogbonna Nwifuru to stop unnecessary litigations in the tribunal, because God has sent him to come and consolidate the achievements of the government on board," Chukwu said.
While emphasizing the need for all the Ebonyi gubernatorial candidates to unite forces by throwing weight behind Nwifuru to continue to move the State forward, Chukwu extolled the developmental strides of Governor David Umahi-led administration.
He urged Nwifuru to consolidate Governor Umahi's achievements in office, and improve the general welfare of Ebonyi citizens, especially the civil servants.
He used the opportunity to extend a heart of gratitude to the Special Assistant to the Ebonyi Governor on Direct Labour and Airport Project, Chika Nwangele for his contributions towards youth development and interventions in the lives of the vulnerable people in the State.
