Governor David Nweze Umahi has adjourned the State Executive Council sine die, forty-eight hours to transition.
Governor Umahi announced the adjournment during a valedictory State Executive Council held at the Executive Council Chambers, Ochoudo Centenary City, Abakaliki, Saturday.
The adjournment followed a motion to that effect moved by the Deputy Governor, Dr Kelechi Igwe and supported by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Chief Cletus Ofoke.
Speaking before the adjournment, Governor Umahi thanked members of the Exco for their solidarity with his administration and for contributing their quota to the development of the State.
He however prayed to God to guide their paths in their future undertakings.
Earlier, some of the members of Exco, Deputy Governor, Dr Kelechi Igwe, Secretary to the Government, Dr Kenneth Ugbala, Security Consultant, Chief Stanley Emegha, Senior Special Adviser on Religious and Welfare Matters, Reverend Father Abraham Nwali extolled Governor Umahi for finding them worthy to serve in their various capacities.
The Exco members prayed to God to continue to use Governor to touch humanity positively.
Highpoint of the valedictory State Executive Council meeting was testimonies of good governance by members who were represented by three members per zone. Sunday Inyima, Ann Aligwe and Sunday Nwangele spoke for the northern zone; Chioma Nweze, Sunday Ugwuocha and Orji Uchenna Orji spoke for the South while Clement Nweke, Obianuju Aloh, and Richard Nnabu spoke for the Central zone.
The atmosphere was deeply emotional and steeped with praises to God Almighty.
Governor Umahi blessed the members as a father blesses his children assuring them that the future is bright. He appealed for support for his successor.
