Akpabio emerges as Senate President

Former governor Of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Godswill Obot Akapbio has emerged as the Senate President of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. 

Akpabio defeated Abdulaziz Yari in a hard-contested election on who leads the 10th Senate. 

Senator Jubrin Barau from Kano State emerged unopposed as Deputy Senate President who was the minority leader of the 8th Senate decamped to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and later served as minister in charge of Niger Delta Affairs.
