Ebonyi state government led by Governor Francis Nwifuru has ordered the immediate removal of every illegal bump on roads in the state.
It decried the high rate of indiscriminate citing of speed breakers otherwise called bumps at various locations of the state which were not approved by the government.
The State government through the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engr. Stanley Lebechi Mbam gave the directive.
According to a release by the Public Relations Officer in the State Ministry of Works and Transport, Onwe Emmanuel Onwe, the Commissioner has observed with dismay the rate of indiscriminate citing of speed breakers otherwise called bumps at various locations not approved by the government.
The Commissioner however urged the general public to note that from henceforth, nobody or group is allowed to make bumps along any section of the major roads in Ebonyi State without the approval of the state government through the Ministry of Works and Transport.
He advised those who had mounted such illegal speed breakers on roads around their localities to remove them without further delay.
"Consequently, those who have made such illegal bumps around their localities are directed to remove them with immediate effect failure of which shall be viewed as a deliberate attempt to disrespect the government and bring its policies to disrepute and shall be treated accordingly.
"To be forewarned is to be forearmed," he warned.
