By Victor Nwegede, Abakaliki.
In a world like ours, where evil, greed and man's inhumanity to humans walk all fours, there is the need to celebrate men of exceptional qualities and good conscience.
Many people have existed but only the legacies they left behind is an evidence that such men have existed.
The life of Chief Moses Chukwuma Ogbonna (Enyi-waa-uzo 1) of Okogwu Agbaja in the Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State is a profile of greatness.
It is a tribute to excellence and devotion to the human cause.
Chief Ogbonna is a man who despite having arrived and would have ordinarily sunk into the comfort of his opulence, thought it wise to be living for people in every unit of his life.
Ogbonna, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of MosFrank International Company Limited, the subsidiary of Ngomos Interglobal Ventures Limited while briefing newsmen after the inaugural ceremony of the Ebonyi State brand new governor, Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru emphasized the need for the alliance of the political actors and business moguls in promoting nation building and development.
The business magnate which the spirit has beheld his generosity said he became an orphan at a tender age but God in His infinite mercy later elevated him to the level he is today.
He, however, advised Ebonyi politicians to prioritise business in their political life, stressing that any political officeholder not into a meaningful business would soon fall back to square one.
He noted that most of the Anambra politicians have continued to make a great impact in the political spectrum and the generality of human endeavours just because of their business preconceptions.
The business mogul advocated for the
need of the Ebonyi political officeholders and business actors to form an alliance, to reduce the poverty grade of the State at the current leadership dispensation.
He said: "Ebonyi politicians should learn how to partner with business people as that relationship will guarantee their future after leaving office.
"Everything is not about politics alone, but learning the business and acquiring skills will help our youth to become self-reliant and employers of labour.
"Youth should be discouraged from jumping from one politician to another, as a political thug, but even after their graduation without a job, should learn business or acquire skills to enhance their future."
He further warned youth against involving themselves in cultism, thuggery and any form of social vices, but advised them to search for meaningful skills or business to learn with confidence that they would become employers of labour
in no distant future.
Emphasizing more why Ebonyi political actors should form alliances with the business people, Chief Ogbonna observed that many Northern politicians have become strong business affiliates with the world-celebrated business magnate who came from their region, the popular Dangote.
While commending the successful inauguration of the new Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, the industrialist described the occasion as a great feat for Ebonyians, particularly the Izhi Nation.
He noted that since 1999, Izhi people have never occupied the apex seat in Ebonyi despite being the Landlord of the State Capital City, Abakaliki.
He pointed out that the peace and accommodative spirit of the Izhi people were attributed to timidity and foolishness by some selfish politicians who tried to exploit the clan by introducing divisions among them for a few years past.
Ogbonna expressed confidence that Governor Nwifuru would deliver his mandate and urged him to be magnanimous in his office while delivering the dividends of democracy throughout his tenure. He equally urged the Ebonyi people to continue to throw their weight around Governor Nwifuru to ensure his office record a huge success in the State.
He said, "With the experience of Governor Nwifuru in political offices for sixteen good years, as a former party executive member, a 12-year lawmaker and a two-term Speaker in the State House of Assembly, he will make Ebonyi people proud in his present office."
Ogbonna recalled that he has used his resources to train many youths in business and education, saying his experience as an orphan, who did not know his parents was his motivator to touch people's life especially the downtrodden in society.
The philanthropist disclosed that he has built houses for the widows, and other vulnerable people in the society; spent over 15 million Naira to electrify his community with other social amenities and humanitarian programmes carried out in the State and beyond.
"It has been my prayer that I will use the blessings of God for me to build humanity, and touch the lives of the people especially the downtrodden positively. I'm a youth friendly and it's my vow that I will use what I have to develop the youth.
"A man can only be remembered for the good thing he did during his lifetime, and not how many houses, cars, and estates he has.
"I contributed to the election of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru not that I'm expecting an appointment from him except if he decides I will accept and render service to our people," he concluded.
