Ebonyi State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engr. Stanley Lebechi Mbam has constituted a taskforce team to checkmate obstructions, and illegal operations among motorists, tricyclistsand, motorcyclists in Abakaliki capital city.
Inaugurating the task force team at the State Ministry of Works and Transport in Abakaliki, the Commissioner charged them to work according to the rules and regulations guiding the operation saying the Ministry would not tolerate any illegal activities but rather work assiduously towards bringing sanity in Abakaliki Capital City.
He warned that anybody find culpable in the course of his duties would be made to face the consequences of his actions.
He assured task force members that the State Government would provide them with the necessary logistics that will help them to work effectively and efficiently.
In their separate speeches, the Senior Special to the Governor on Transport Hon. Fredrick Nwogbaga and the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Works and anTransportrt Mr Monday Nkwuda enjoined the task force team to carry out their duties with h human face for the overall peace and progress of the State.
Nwogbaga further urged illegal park operators and those who load and offload at unauthorized places to desist from such nonchalanattitudesde as taskforce would impound thee d vehicles of offenders.
He maintained that owners of the impounded vehicles must pay y fine into the State Government approved bank account or the driver be put into prison for sabotaging the efforts of the f Government to serve aa s deterrent to others.
However, Nwogbaga reiterated that illegal park operators' broadsided loaders should immediately relocate to the State Government approved central park to improve the trthtransportrt sector in the State.
Responding on behalf of the taskforce committee Mr Obiya Emmanuel appreciated the State Government for finding them worthy to serve in that capacity and promised not to disappoint the State in the course of their assigned responsibilities.
