The Ebonyi state government has sought further improvement in its working relationship with all the Federal government establishments, especially during job recruitment in their respective offices.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Grace Umezurike who made the disclosure, said, "the
Federal Character should be used in recruitment exercise to represent Ebonyi people well at the national level."
She stated this during an interactive meeting with the heads of Federal establishments in Abakaliki, stressing that Ebonyi State citizens deserve more accommodation in nationwide employment and appointment.
Professor Umezurike urged the Federal establishments to inform the State government of their recruitment exercise to avoid shortchanging Ebonyi people when the opportunity comes up.
The SSG expressed the Ebonyi State government's willingness to have more working relationships with all the Federal establishments in the State.
She described the interactive meeting as an important one, because, in her words, it allowed her office and heads of the federal government establishments to familiarize themselves.
On his part, the Acting Chairman of the Association of Heads of Federal Establishments (AHFE), Mr Ejike Nwodo of the National Film Censor Board informed the SSG of favourable synergy among their members to make sure that the aims of collaborating with the State government become more profitable.
“I want to inform you that we have over 80 Federal Establishments here in Ebonyi State, but at the Federal level, we have over 560 MDAs (Ministries, Departments and Agencies). I want you to work hard so that more Establishments will come to the State as it will help to reduce unemployment in the State”. Nwodo added.
The Acting Chairman, however, urged the State government to build an estate for the Heads of the Federal establishments to ease the effects of the lack of accommodations.
Thereafter, Nwodo commended the State government for their hospitality and assured of their continuous support for the present administration to provide dividends of democracy to the people.
