The Two Special Women Battalion (2SWOB) operations of the Nkwegu Military Cantonment Abakaliki in Ebonyi State yesterday observed a cross-country competition.
The competition which took place at the Nkwegu Military Cantonment Abakaliki was one of the series of training activities lined up for the Nigerian Army to enhance physical fitness.
Our correspondent reports that the exercise featured 15 kilometres race, with the Charlie Company emerging as the overall winner of the Competition having edged out other companies with a total of 1000 points.
Recall that the Bravo Company came second with 960 while Alpha Company secured the last position with 920 and Lt. Col Emmanuel Ukande, the Commanding officer of 2SWOB Nkwegu Military Cantonment regulated the competition.
Also recall that the General Officer Commanding 82 Division, represented by Brigadier General Okhume Ejere urged the female soldier to utilize the valuable knowledge and endurance gained during the competition.
He noted the experience would assist them to improve in their statutory roles while in active service.
The Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Francis Nwifuru represented by his Deputy, Mrs Patricia Obila commended the Commanding Officer 2SWOB, Lt. Col Emmanuel Ukande for organizing the competition.
The governor promised to continue to support the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in the state.
The event attended by the Commanding Officer of 24 Support Engineer Regiment Nkwegu Military Cantonment, Lt. Col Sunday Atomode provided an opportunity for the official inauguration of the Formation Operation Base, FOB in Uburu by Brigadier General Ejere.
There was the presentation of medals, a wooden spoon to the last position, the Alpha Company as well as trophies to the winners by the state governor.
