A Non-Governmental Organisations, NGO Succour City Foundation, SCF in collaboration with the Ebonyi Youth In Diaspora Organisation, EYIDO have inaugurated the members of the Local Organising Committee, LOC for the 2023 Ebonyi Youth Mega Symposium.
Speaking after the inauguration which took place at Adonai Exclusive Garden, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State Capital, the SCF Founder, Engineer Sunday Andrew Opoke described the forthcoming symposium as a hallway to promoting Ebonyi talents in mega style.
He explained: "The symposium is coming to showcase the potential of Ebonyi people in different dimensions, professions and vocations. I want to urge everyone to stay tuned with this decision which has been taken today. Stay tuned for this dream to re-energize, reactivate, reinvigorate and restrengthen our potential to be the greatest state in Nigeria, and to be the greatest people on the face of this world. That's what we stand to say to every Ebonyian, especially the youth to promote the potential of the state to an enviable height."
Opoke who was the 2023 governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party, YPP, disclosed that 'from one generation to another, God has always appointed a man to deliver his people.'
He, however, described leadership as what makes people different; noting that, leadership that is inspired and directed by God has a major difference in every human environment.
He added: "We have identified those needs, we have to attend to, not by individuals. There are some needs, that we are not able to attend to as individuals, and even the government won't be able to address them, but with the network of human beings, and a catalogue of the calibre of people, the needs can be addressed easily. That's why we are bringing this network, saying that Ebonyi State must have a new dimension of understanding among the other Nigerians.
"Ebonyi state is so blessed with natural resources, and human resources, and we have all the capabilities and potential. We want to tell the world that if you need the best you come to Ebonyi State, from anywhere and anytime, and that's what we are trying to bring up.
"We want to bring in a robust system where one can get help without knowing anybody. Where a son of nobody can get help without knowing anybody. The dream came from the EYIDO and Succour City Foundation, which merged to stand for the youth of Ebonyi State wherever they are. We know that our youth have been said to be the leaders of tomorrow. But how can they lead without being prepared? How can they lead if the platform is not well prepared for them? The time is now, to harvest, nurture and promote the talents without any further delay in our dear state, the Salt of the Nation."
Also speaking, the Founding President of Ebonyi Youths In Diaspora Organization (EYIDO), Hon Madus Matthias said every local government area in the state was represented in the local organizing committee.
According to him, the sub-committee members inaugurated for the symposium included publicity, contact and mobilization committee. Others were members of the marketing, financial/fundraising, symposium, technical, welfare, award, entertainment, protocol and security committees.
