Many people might have been gunned down by the suspected herdsmen following their attack in the Adijah community in Ugbokpo, Apa LGA of Benue State.
Our sources revealed that the community people had fled away following the attack by the bloodsucking hoodlums on Thursday noon.
The attackers reportedly stormed the town, which is located a few kilometres away from the Otukpo-Oweto Road and opened fire on residents, killing an unknown number of villagers.
The residents of the community however have fled to their neighbouring villages.
A reliable community source told our correspondent that the attackers operated freely for hours without any security operatives coming to challenge them.
"They were just passing, and the moment the villagers sighted them, they opened fire on them.
“Unfortunately, while the operation lasted, there were no security personnel on the ground to challenge them.
“The people you saw are running for their lives because the attackers have seen how vulnerable the village is and would likely come back again.
"Just last night, they invaded Imana Ikobi in this local government and killed about four men.
“Our land is bleeding with no one coming to our aid,” the resident who spoke from his hideaway in Obelle Ijaha revealed this incident to our correspondent, Thursday night. - Daily Post.
