Governor Siminalayi Fubara has said that his administration is prioritising policies that will maximise the potential of the youths in the state.
Fubara made the declaration on Tuesday at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) permanent orientation camp, Nonwa-Gbam Tai, Tai LGA of the state, during the swearing-in ceremony of 2024 Batch A Stream 1 Corps Members deployed to Rivers State.
The governor represented by the Permanent Secretary, Special Services Bureau, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Sir Samson Friday Dede, commended the NYSC for the positive impacts it has made in the nation's quest for rapid development.
"My administration's commitment to supporting the youths to achieve the mandate of uniting and integrating the nation is unwavering.
"I am optimistic that with the support of the NYSC, my social contract to lift the people of Rivers state out from poverty and provide them with world-class infrastructure will be realised,".
The Coordinator, of NYSC Rivers State, Mr George Mfongang in his remarks, urged the corps members to be at the forefront of the nation's development through hard work, discipline and sound morals.
"I commend the corps members for their passion and enthusiasm in imbibing the lessons of the orientation exercise.
"I also charge to maintain these virtues to uplift themselves and society at large,".
Mfongang thanked Governor Fubara for his unflinching commitment to ensuring the security and welfare of corps members in the state, especially, the payment of state allowance to them.
A total of 1,585 Corps Members made up of 819 males and 766 females took the oath of allegiance on occasion.
The administration of the oath was performed by Justice Ibiwengi Roseline Minakiri.
