An organisation known as Oha Izhi Nnodo in Ebonyi State has set out to offer financial assistance to indigent undergraduates who dropped out from any tertiary institution due to their financial predicament.
Oha Izhi Nnodo is the apex social-cultural organisation of Izhi-speaking people in Ebonyi State. Its members dwell in over 26 autonomous communities scattered in Abakaliki, Ebonyi and Izzi council areas of Ebonyi State. Some of them are living in parts of Benue and Cross Rivers States.
In a circular endorsed by the Secretary General of Oha Izhi, Dr John Nkwuda, which was made available to our correspondent, the organisation said it embarked on free financial assistance to the indigent dropped-out students to support the good work of its prominent member in Ebonyi, who is presently the Governor of the state, Chief Francis Nwifuru.
The body described Nwifuru as an education-friendly Governor and disclosed that "the Back to School Programme of Oha Izhi Nnodo Education Committee" has been constituted to receive the academic details of the indigent students who dropped out of the tertiary institutions as a result of financial predicament for possible assistance to go back to school.
"I have been directed by Oha Izhi Nnodo Exco-members to inform our indigent Izhi students who dropped out from tertiary institutions or universities as a result of financial predicament to submit their academic details for possible assistance to go back to school.
"To this effect, such students are invited to submit their details to the Secretary Education committee through WhatsApp number 07036596583 or Dr Emmanuel Ogbaga - 08036850754 or Prince Andrew Ekpe - 08037189352."
Oha Izhi advised each of the dropped-out students to submit his or her name, village, community, local government area, phone number, year of admission, year of dropped out, admission letter, evidence of last school fees receipt, photocopies of evidence to be attached and amount of school fees owed.
The organisation warned those that have been captured earlier not to submit their details to the committee, assuring the fresh applicants for the back-to-school programme would be communicated with a date for their physical interview.
