Ebonyi State Transport Corporation, EBONYIANS, has planned to introduce new routes across the 36 states in Nigeria, including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, FCTA.
The new General Manager (GM) of EBOTRANS, Mrs. Nnenna Igwe, stated this during the inaugural mass service, marking her assumption of office at the corporation's office in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, on Wednesday.
Mrs. Igwe appreciated the State Governor, Chief Francis Nwifuru, for his commitment to making EBOTRANS a world-class transport company by purchasing 20 brand new Hiase buses for the company, including numerous other interventions.
The GM pledged a total commitment to reposition EBOTRANS as one of the best transport companies in the country.
She further assured of working harmoniously with all the management and staff of the EBOTRANS to actualize the vision of Governor Nwifuru in reviving the company to meet the transport needs of Ebonyi people and beyond.
She pledged: "I shall take urgent practical steps to reposition EBOTRANS to serve not only the transport means of our people but other Nigerians by expanding its operation.
"In driving this initiative, I will ensure accountability and good governance of vehicles and equally embark on the training and retraining of our drivers to guarantee the safety of our passengers.
"We shall also introduce new routes across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. Our services will be anchored on integrity, safety concerns, customer care, and affordability."
The Founder of the Nso Na Agha Adoration Centre, Reverend Father Kenneth Nome, while spreading sermons during the mass service, urged the new GM to continue to embrace the spirit of humility in her present office.
Fr Nome, the Abakaliki Catholic Priest noted that the GM was gradually promoted from being cleaner to the apex position in the transport company because of her humility and dedication to duty.
The Priest commended Governor Nwifuru for having hearkened to the voice of God by appointing Mrs. Igwe as the GM of the transport company and urged massive support for her to deliver quality services in the office by all and sundry.
The State Woman leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mrs. Queendarlyn Nwigwe, the company's Administrative Head of Department, Mrs . Beatrice Nebe, and its Operation Manager, Mr. Innocent Obiahu, among other speakers during the event congratulated Mrs Igwe for having displayed excellent services which led to her emergence as the GM of the transport company.
They equally urged the GM to work together with the staff of the company and described her appointment as a true demonstration of the present state government's commitment to promoting women's inclusion and excellent services in governance.
