Governor Francis Nwifuru on Thursday flagged off the second batch of training for another 100 Ebonyi youths, including women in agriculture and skills development.
Nwifuru, while flagging off the event at Re-Meritona Hotel, Abakaliki, said the training program would take place at Masters Skill Development and Services Farms, Agbani, in Enugu State for two months.
The governor, represented by the State Commissioner for Human Capital Development and Monitoring, Mrs. Ann Aligwe, said the beneficiaries of the program would be empowered with three million Naira (N3m) each after their training.
He recalled that recently over 100 farmers were empowered with three million Naira (N3m) each after being trained by Masters Skill Development and Service Farms Ltd, Agbani in Enugu State under Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru Empowerment Programme, FONEP on Agricultural Value Chains Development.
He announced that another set of Ebonyi people had been shortlisted for the 180, 000 Naira empowerment program, saying the beneficiaries would begin to receive alerts from tomorrow.
The governor mobilized the beneficiaries of the agricultural empowerment program with 50,000 Naira, adding that another 50,000 Naira for their internet browsing would be subsequently disbursed to them, and their feeding and accommodations have been well secured.
He expressed his administration's readiness to continue to empower Ebonyi people in all aspects of human endeavors, especially in agriculture, business, education, human capital building, and among others.
He urged the beneficiaries of the program to utilize the opportunity to develop themselves to become self-relevant, wealth creators and employers of labor in society.
Nwifuru disclosed that a monitoring and evaluation team has been set up through the State Ministry of Human Capital Development and Monitoring to ensure optimal performance by the beneficiaries in the field.
Beneficiaries of the program, including Anthony Nwangbo, Esther Omaka, and Samuel Obasi, among others, commended Governor Nwifuru and his government officials and assured them of making the state proud in the training.
