The Network of Non-Governmental Organizations, NGOs, Civil Society Organizations, CSOs and Voluntary Organizations, VOs in Ebonyi has congratulated the First Lady of Ebonyi State, Chief Mrs Mary-Maudline Uzoamka Nwifuru, for winning a merit award from the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Ebonyi State Council.
The organization described the award bestowed on Mrs Nwifuru by the NUJ during the 2024 press week as a well-deserved one.
The members of the group made this known in the congratulatory note endorsed by their State Chairman, Chief Offor Okorie and the State Coordinator, Comrade Okey Fortuna, during the weekend.
According to them, the prestigious award conferred on Her Excellency, the wife of Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Mrs Mary-Maudline Uzoamka Ogbonna Nwifuru, by the NUJ is a true testament to her unwavering commitment and tireless efforts towards improving the quality of lives and championing the welfare of women, children and vulnerable people in the state.
They noted that Mrs Nwifuru has, through her pet foundation, Better Health for Rural Women, Children and Internally Displaced Persons, BERWO, improved the lives of Ebonyi residents, ameliorating their suffering, promoting education, healthcare services and economic empowerment and elimination of every form of violence against women and children.
The group expressed gratitude for her exceptional leadership style, which earned her the meritorious award from the noble Union, NUJ.
The group members also congratulated the state governor, Chief Francis Nwifuru, for having embarked on people-oriented programmes and projects, which, according to them, has emancipated the state from the shackles of poverty and backwardness.
They noted that his exemplary leadership style has spoken high volumes in the areas of health, education, security, civil service, capacity building, employment and other facets of life.
The organization prayed to God to continue to grant Governor Nwifuru and his wife abundant grace, protection, sound health and wisdom while urging all and sundry to always support the present administration to deliver more dividends of democracy to the people in the state
