In a commendation that underscores the commitment of the state government to infrastructure development, Hon. Egbe Stephen Chinoso, a former House of Assembly aspirant and current Special Assistant to the Ishielu Local Government Chairman on Youth Mobilization, has lauded Engr. Stanley Lebech Mbam, the Commissioner for Works, for his remarkable efforts in delivering on the infrastructural mandate of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.
During an interview, Mr. Egbe expressed his admiration for the commissioner’s capabilities, particularly highlighting the significant improvements in the road network across the state.
He asserted that the governor made a wise choice in appointing Lebech to head the Ministry of Works, given the impactful changes witnessed in recent months.
“One notable project is the 22-kilometer road connecting Ezillo to Iyonu and Ezzagu, which was once notorious as a death trap and haven for criminals,” Egbe remarked. “As I speak to you now, 10 kilometers of this road have been completed, with one lane opened to traffic.”
He further indicated that he is confident that the remaining 7.3 kilometers of road will be completed soon, noting the swift progress being made by Commissioner Lebech’s team. Additionally, he highlighted the 170-unit residential estate being developed by Governor Nwifuru for the people of Iso and Ameze Autonomous Community, stating that construction work is already completed.
“Just a few weeks ago, the governor awarded the internal roads of the estate, totaling about 9.25 kilometers, and I can assure you that the earthworks are almost 90% complete,” he noted. “I expect that by the time we mark the second anniversary of the governor’s tenure, significant developments will be visible there.”
Mr. Egbe emphasized his desire for Engr. Lebech to continue in his role beyond the current tenure of Governor Nwifuru, citing the commendable performance and impactful results achieved thus far. He added, “I strongly believe that after this first tenure, it would be in the best interest of the state for him to remain as Commissioner of Works, as he is truly making a difference.”
Hon. Egbe reminded the public of the governor's early initiatives, revealing that even before his current tenure, Nwifuru had awarded a 2-kilometer road project dedicated to traditional rulers, further emphasizing the administration's commitment to improving infrastructure and enhancing the lives of the citizens.
As the progress in road construction and housing development continues, the people of Ebonyi State can be hopeful for a lasting transformation under the stewardship of Governor Nwifuru and his dedicated team.
