President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja for Rome, Italy, on Saturday following an invitation from Pope Leo XIV to attend a high-level Catholic event of global significance.
The invitation, delivered through Cardinal Pietro Parolin, emphasized the importance of President Tinubu's physical presence at a time described as critical for the Catholic Church and a world grappling with rising tensions and conflicts.
According to the Presidency, the event will bring together global leaders and prominent religious figures.
President Tinubu will be accompanied by the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Most Rev. Matthew Hassan Kukah, among others.
The Vatican visit is seen as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen diplomatic and interfaith relations between Nigeria and the Holy See.
