Gunmen attacked the family home of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan on Tuesday night in Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State.
This was contained in a statement released by her media team and forwarded to NATIONAL PANEL news desk.
According to the statement, the attackers allegedly arrived in large numbers, vandalized the property by smashing windows and destroying valuables at the senator’s ancestral residence.
Their assault was disrupted by a combined response from police officers, community vigilantes, and local youths, who succeeded in repelling the gunmen.
One suspect was arrested at the scene. Though his identity has not been officially released, he is believed to be a native of the community and reportedly linked to influential political figures.
The senator’s media team claimed he confessed to involvement in three separate attacks on the compound.
Eyewitnesses reported that the suspect was nearly lynched by an angry mob before police intervened.
A cutlass and charms were recovered from him, while other assailants reportedly fled the scene and remain at large.
Tuesday’s incident is the second attack on the residence in recent months.
On April 15, 2025, the same home was targeted, though no arrests were made in that case.
Authorities have yet to comment on the connection between the two incidents.
