The member representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency, Comrade Chinedu Ogah on Saturday extended critical support to the grieving family of late Mr Igwe Friday Earnest, the Organizing Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikwo Local Government Area.
Ogah, who is also the Chairman of House Committee on Reformatory Institutions attended the burial ceremony held at the late APC chieftain’s residence in Ndufu Echara, where he paid glowing tributes to the deceased.
He described the deceased APC leader as a loyal party man and committed servant of the people whose death was a huge loss to the APC and the Ikwo Noyo Clan.
The lawmaker announced full scholarship awards to two children of the deceased while expressing a profound gesture of solidarity to the bereaved family during the event.
He pledged to sponsor one of the children through secondary school, while another was offered a secured admission and full tuition support to study at Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo (AE-FUNAI), from year one to graduation.
The lawmaker donated the sum of N1,000,000 to support their welfare, assuring the bereaved family members of his continued assistance in the months ahead to further easing their burden.
"I stand with this family not just in words but in action.
"Our brother Hon. Igwe was a man of service, and it is only right that we honour him by supporting those he left behind.
"Let us all draw strength from God, the only one who can truly console us," Ogah said.
Earlier in the day, the federal lawmaker also attended the burial of seven victims of a tragic incident at Akahu-Ufu Inyimagu in Ikwo LGA.
He called for calm and restraint, urging the communities to avoid self-defense and to rely on the peace processes being championed by relevant committees
He reaffirmed his confidence in the attainment of lasting peace among the warring sister communities.
