Former First Lady of Nigeria, Dame Patience Jonathan, has urged Nigerian women and youths to embrace continuous learning, emphasizing that it is never too late to pursue academic dreams.
Dame Jonathan made this call at the 43rd Postgraduate Ceremony of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, where she was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology, Guidance and Counselling.
Speaking at the event, she said, “I feel that no age is too late to achieve your academic dreams, whether you are young or old.
"If I can do it, you can also do it. I believe that even in retirement, you are not too old to go back to school because education provides the opportunity for one to always refresh his or her brain and learn new things.”
Dame Jonathan dedicated her achievement to Nigerian women and vowed to continue championing the rights of vulnerable groups in society, especially women, children and youths.
She also expressed gratitude to her husband, former President Goodluck Jonathan, her family, and friends for their support throughout her academic journey.
