Senator Sahabi Ya’u Kaura (Danmadamin Kaura), representing Zamfara North Senatorial District, has marked his second year in office with a comprehensive review of achievements spanning agriculture, youth empowerment, education, healthcare, infrastructure, and humanitarian support.
According to a statement released by his media aide, Abdulrazak Namadi Liman, the senator has implemented numerous constituency-focused initiatives aimed at improving living standards and enhancing regional development.
In the agriculture sector, Senator Kaura distributed 4,000 bags of fertilizer to local farmers and trained over 500 individuals in modern agricultural techniques to increase productivity and ensure food security.
Youth empowerment has also been a major focus. A total of 600 youths received vocational training, ₦100,000 in startup funds, and ₦10,000 for transport, with others receiving tailoring machines to aid entry into skilled trades. The senator also facilitated the recruitment of local youths into the Nigerian Police Force, boosting employment and security.
On education, Senator Kaura sponsored more than 50 students at the Federal Polytechnic Kaura Namoda and other tertiary institutions. He also extended financial support to student unions and provided relief to the families of 17 Almajiri students who died in a tragic fire.
In healthcare, his administration organized medical outreach programs in 2024 and 2025, offering free services to thousands. Additionally, hematology machines were supplied to all five general hospitals in Zamfara North. Senator Kaura also sponsored the bill establishing the Federal Medical Centre in Kaura Namoda, which has now reached its third reading.
His humanitarian and welfare efforts included distributing food items during Ramadan from 2023 to 2025, donating rams during Eid celebrations, supporting families affected by market accidents, and providing ₦5 million to internally displaced persons (IDPs) across the district.
In terms of infrastructure, the senator oversaw the installation of over 1,000 streetlights, initiated the construction of Gabake Road, and installed solar-powered boreholes in underserved areas. A 300KVA transformer was also installed to boost electricity in Kaura Namoda.
On the national stage, Senator Kaura serves as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Atomic and Nuclear Energy and is a member of the Senate Committee on Defence, where he contributed to the 2025 Defence Budget Proposal.
Senator Kaura’s office described his two-year tenure as "transformational," highlighting his commitment to inclusive development and service delivery.
"From rural communities to urban centers, Senator Kaura remains committed to uplifting lives and driving sustainable progress across Zamfara North," the statement concluded.
