Mr. Cyril Igbokwe, popularly known as Onyeoma Cy, has been sworn in as Chairman of the Ohonda Motor Spare Parts and Industrial Generator Dealers Union, Ikoku, Port Harcourt, with a firm promise to lead with fairness, reform, and unity.
Addressing members during the well-attended swearing-in ceremony, Onyeoma expressed joy over the confidence reposed in him, saying:
> “I made no promises because I wanted free, unbiased votes. I’m grateful for the trust.”
He praised his executive team for mobilizing over ₦1 million in under an hour to fund the event, calling them “responsive and progressive.”
Onyeoma outlined his short-term goals, which include addressing members’ core challenges, strengthening security cooperation with the host community and police, and consolidating peace efforts initiated by the past administration.
“We already enjoy cordial relations with the police and host community. I’ll build on that foundation,” he assured.
Present at the event were Divisional Police Officers from Mile 1, RSU, and Olu-Obasanjo stations, alongside leaders from the host community—signifying broad support for the new administration.
Outgoing ELECO Chairman, Comrade Onu Godwin, who also leads the parent association, commended the smooth electoral process and transition, expressing confidence in Onyeoma’s leadership.
In his closing remarks, Onyeoma charged members to be law-abiding and uphold the union’s constitution:
“I won’t bend the rules for anyone. I’ll lead with fairness and protect every member within the bounds of our constitution.”
