The Senate Deputy Chief Whip, Chief Onyekachi Nwebonyi has expressed delight at the progress made by the social club he belongs in Abakaliki, the Eternal Brothers Club.
Nwebonyi who represents Ebonyi North Senatorial district, made the commendation when a delegation of the club paid him a courtesy visit at his hometown, Mbeke Ishieke in Ebonyi Local Government Areas of the state.
The senate deputy chief whip said the achievements recorded by the club within few years of formation are "astonishing and heart-warming".
"I am a founding member of the club and we felt it was just an avenue to merry and convivale.
"The present leadership has however transformed it beyond expectation with an advancement never witnessed before."
Nwebonyi said he will continue supporting the club in appreciation to the giant strides it has recorded.
"I ensured the construction of the road transversing its headquarters and will ensure more constructions in the Obama area of Abakaliki, where it is sited.
"The construction of the club's headquarters will attract rapid development in the area and I will significantly support its completion."
He urged the club to continue being agent of change and development in the society considering the avalanche of personalities in its fold.
The President of the club, Hon. Charles Akpu-enika thanked the senate deputy chief whip for the reception, describing him as a worthy ambassador of the club.
"We follow your activities at senate and can describe you as the best brain from Ebonyi.
"Everytime you make presentations at the senate floor and on the television, Nigerians would see intellect and capacity that make Ebonyi proud."
The immediate past Ebonyi commissioner for youth development and sports said the club has recorded impressive milestones which distinguishes it from others in the state.
"From a humble beginning, we presently have over 170 members made up of distinguished individuals in politics, business, academia among other sectors.
"Work on the club's headquarters is progressing steadily and we are optimistic of its inauguration next year.
"You support to us have been tremendous and we urge you not to relent."
