Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has celebrated the outstanding performance of Nigerian basketball star, Blessing Ejiofor, who recently clinched her fifth consecutive African Women’s Basketball Championship title in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
In a heartfelt congratulatory message, Governor Nwifuru described Ejiofor’s feat as “a moment of history” and praised her as a true Ebonyi daughter whose relentless pursuit of excellence has brought immense pride to the state and Nigeria at large.
“I take great pleasure and pride in congratulating our very own Blessing Ejiofor from Ebonyi State, one of the champions who made our nation proud by winning a historic five-straight title in the African Women's Basketball tournament,” the Governor stated.
He noted that her consistency and excellence serve as a shining light to young girls across Ebonyi and beyond, proving that with dedication and discipline, greatness is achievable.
“For every girlchild from Ebonyi, you are an inspiration, showing that hard work and dedication can lead to great accomplishments,” the Governor added.
Beyond her exploits on the court, Governor Nwifuru also commended Ejiofor for her humanitarian efforts through the Muna Foundation’s Girls Empowerment Camp, which is committed to mentoring and uplifting young girls.
“You are a true beacon of pride for our people, and we will continue to celebrate your achievements,” he concluded.
Ejiofor’s latest title adds to her growing legacy in African basketball and strengthens her role as a role model, particularly in her home state of Ebonyi, where sports and youth development remain a key priority under the Nwifuru administration.
