Ebonyi State University (EBSU), Abakaliki, is set to host a world-class international hybrid conference on linguistics, bringing together academics, researchers, technologists, policymakers, and security experts from across the globe.
The four-day event, tagged Third EBSU Linguistics International Hybrid Interdisciplinary Conference – 2025, will run from October 8–11, 2025, at the university’s Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities.
With the theme: “Language, Technoscience, Security, and Socioeconomic Development: Towards a Holistic Digital Society”, the conference will interrogate the intersection of language, technology, and development in an increasingly digital world.
Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Michael U. Awoke, will serve as Chief Host, while Dr. Goodluck C. Nwode, Head of Department of Languages and Linguistics, is the host. The Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Prof. Nkechi Emma-Echiegu, is co-host.
The keynote address will be delivered by Prof. Sani Abba Aliyu, Director of Advancement & International Education, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Other confirmed lead presenters include Prof. Ngozi Emeka-Nwobia (EBSU), Prof. Ahmad Shehu (Kaduna State University), Dr. Raphael Iyamu (University of Florida, USA), and Major Dr. Y. M. Sukam (Nigerian Army College of Environmental Sciences & Technology, Makurdi).
The hybrid event will feature an opening ceremony, keynote presentations, technical sessions, a gala night, and a closing ceremony. Participants will also engage in critical discussions on topical issues such as artificial intelligence and indigenous languages, cyber security and disinformation, political rhetoric in digital societies, food security communication, digital humanities, and cultural sustainability.
The conference is expected to attract both physical and virtual participants, with sessions streamed live from the ICT Centre, EBSU. Selected peer-reviewed papers will be published in reputable interdisciplinary journals.
According to the organizers, abstract submission has been extended until September 30, 2025, while full papers are due by November 7, 2025.
Registration fees range from ₦10,000 for Nigerian students to $40 for international participants.
