Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has expressed sorrow over the passing of Retired Navy Captain Walter Feghabo, the state’s pioneer Military Administrator.
The governor made this known in a press release by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr Monday Uzor on Monday.
Describing the loss as monumental, Governor Nwifuru praised Feghabo as a visionary leader whose unwavering dedication laid the crucial foundations for Ebonyi’s socio-economic and political development.
Appointed in 1996, when Ebonyi State was newly created, Captain Feghabo was tasked with the historic responsibility of guiding the fledgling state through its formative years. With courage, foresight, and selfless commitment, he established the administrative structures and policies that would shape Ebonyi’s early trajectory.
Governor Nwifuru highlighted that Feghabo’s legacy marked by discipline, patriotism, and humility remains a source of inspiration for current and future generations of Ebonyians.
“His steadfast devotion to public service and passion for national unity are enduring legacies we continue to honor,” the Governor remarked.
On behalf of the government and people of Ebonyi State, Governor Nwifuru extended heartfelt condolences to Captain Feghabo’s family, the people of Bayelsa State, and the Nigerian Navy, mourning the loss of a distinguished officer and nation builder.
