The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Brigadier General Olakunle Rafiu has urged corps members to be good ambassadors of the scheme and make it proud through their actions and inactions.
Nafiu gave the urge at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Nonwa-Gbam Tai Local Government Area of the state while addressing the 2025 Batch C Corps Members in camp.
The NYSC DG said that by making the scheme proud, the corps members would become ambassadors of scheme 's success story.
"I urge you to reflect deeply on the wording and spirit of the NYSC anthem, using the opportunity of the service year to make positive impacts on nation building.
"I encourage you to see the regimented lifestyle as a transition from students' orientation and lifestyle to work ethics mentality.
"The regimented camp activities are designed to toughen and equip you physically, mentally and emotionally for the challenges of real life experiences."
The Rivers State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mr. Moses Oleghe informed Brig. Gen Nafiu that the corps members are exceptional, disciplined and well-behaved since their arrival to camp.
"I commend the corps members and officials for displaying high sense of responsibility in the discharge of their duties.
"I also appreciate the DG and his entourage for choosing Rivers State as the first camp to visit in 2025 Batch C orientation course."
The DG was accompanied on the visit by the Director, Information and Public Relations, Mrs. Caroline Embu, Acting Director Special Duties, Alhaji Suleman Abdul and Acting Director South South Area Office II Port Harcourt, Mr. Philip Enaberue.
