The Ebonyi State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Chief Uchenna Igwe has hailed the Eternal Brothers Club for its proactiveness and resilience in identifying with the society and its ideals.
Igwe gave the commendation during the club's colourful Christmas/ End of the Year party at its headquarters in Abakaliki on Monday which attracted eminent personalities in the political, business, academia among other sectors of the state and beyond.
Igwe who was the chairman of the occasion, said the club's responsiveness to societal ideals and needs, accounted for its growing influence in the state, country and beyond.
"The club has thus become unique and outstanding with its membership cutting across Nigeria and beyond.
"We thank God for being alive to witness this epoch -making event as the only way the club would sustain this impeccable attributions is sustaining the spirit of unity and brotherliness within it."
The President of the club, Hon. Charles Akpu-Enika said the club has grown in leaps and bounds; from.a humble beginning to becoming the model it is presently.
Akpu-Enika, the Former Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports in the state, said the club placed as its top priorities; unity,.peace, enhancement of members' welfare and community development.
"From pooling the resources of the club's pioneer members, the construction of this imposing edifice commenced and what are seeing today is a testament of our resolve to give members, the best edifice they can think of.
"The economic condition of the country has however, taken its toll on the members responsiveness to their financial obligations but their resilience in the face of this situation has kept the club going and attaining set goals.
"We continually seek greater partnership with well meaning individuals and organisations to continue sustaining the club's ideals and meeting its various needs.".
He commended their Excellencies; Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyii and his Predecessor/ current Minister of Works; Senator Engr David Umahi for their love and support for the club.
"These great leaders of our time have changed the economic and infrastructural narratives of Ebonyi state and Nigeria and we are proud to associate with them."
The club used the occasion to induct new members who include high-profile personalities such as: the Deputy Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Chief Chinedu Onah, Former Principal Secretary to the Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Clement Nweke among others.
The club also used the occasion to launch its 2026 calendar and with their adorable spouses adorning the festive atmosphere, the members convivaled in thanksgiving to God for his numerous mercies in the outgoing year.
