Ebonyi State’s commitment to inclusive governance has earned commendation from political stakeholders, as members of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) met with the Special Assistant to the Governor on Inter-Party Affairs, Comrade Sunday Nwambam, on Monday in Abakaliki.
The meeting brought together representatives from most of Ebonyi’s 17 political parties to discuss the state government’s policies, ongoing projects, and the recently presented 2026 budget.
According to Comrade Nwambam, the gathering aimed to express gratitude to opposition parties for their continued support of Governor Francis Nwifuru’s administration.
“We convened this meeting to thank all political parties for their unwavering support and active participation in the government’s initiatives.
"Their contributions to the 2026 budget, which prominently included the Ministry of Inter-Party Relations, underscore the effectiveness of inclusive governance in Ebonyi State,” Nwambam said.
He expressed satisfaction over the support from IPAC members, noting that out of the state’s 17 political parties, only two of them were absent, reflecting broad engagement and cooperation.
“The meeting reinforces the government’s position that ongoing empowerment programs, recruitment initiatives, and infrastructure projects are intended to benefit all citizens, irrespective of party affiliation,” he added.
“By actively engaging opposition parties in governance, the current Ebonyi State government, ably led by His Excellency Governor Francis Nwifuru, is setting a precedent for collaborative politics in Nigeria, fostering development, peace, and political cohesion across the state,” Nwambam maintained.
Lending his voice, the IPAC Secretary and Chairman of the Action Alliance in Ebonyi, Comrade Godwin Ukwu, who represented State IPAC Chairman Comrade Ernest Nweze, lauded the governor for promoting collaboration among political parties.
“The governor’s recognition of the Inter-Party Ministry in the budget demonstrates his commitment to including all parties, whether in the ruling party or in opposition,” he said.
Ukwu added that opposition parties are eager to participate in the commissioning of state projects scheduled to commence in May 2026.
“These projects are for the benefit of all citizens. We plan to visit the sites ourselves to provide feedback and encourage contractors to complete the work on schedule,” he noted.
The meeting also highlighted Ebonyi State’s peaceful political environment, attributed to the governor’s inclusive leadership style.
“Politically, whether in the opposition or the ruling party, our motto is ‘Ebonyi First.’ The welfare of the state takes precedence, and this approach has ensured unity and stability,” Ukwu emphasized.
