As the festive season approaches, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ebonyi State Chapter, has urged residents to remain vigilant and actively support ongoing security efforts across the state.
The statement was made available by Comrade Ali Ikechukwu, State Publicity Secretary, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ebonyi State Chapter.
Speaking with journalists, Thursday at the NYCN Annex Office in Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, Abakaliki, the State Chairman, Comrade Douglas Ochishi, commended Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for fostering a stable and youth-friendly environment since assuming office.
He credited the governor’s leadership with reducing the activities of miscreants who previously threatened the peace and progress of the state.
Ochishi noted that the current administration’s “People’s Charter of Needs” policy direction has restored confidence among young people and repositioned Ebonyi State for sustainable growth.
He described the governor as a “peace maker” whose commitment to security continues to yield positive results.
Highlighting the role of young people in maintaining peace, the NYCN chairman listed key responsibilities expected of the youth, including organizing community dialogues, promoting peace-driven content on social media, participating in unity-building cultural events, and volunteering in security-related initiatives.
He emphasized that supporting government policies and community-based security structures is now more crucial than ever.
“As the yuletide draws near, everyone has a unique role to play,” Ochishi stated. “Residents must provide timely information that can help prevent criminal activities.
"Every citizen should take responsibility for ensuring their environment is safe, complementing the efforts of our God-given governor and the state’s security agencies.”
He also cautioned toChristmas returnees, advising them to avoid unsafe routes and refrain from traveling at odd hours to minimize exposure to security risks posed by criminal elements.
