The Chief Executive Officer of Blessing-Micheal Foundation for Widows, Orphans and Disadvantaged Youths (BMFWOD), Mrs. Blessing Goodness Ibiadi, yesterday disclosed that her foundation has continued to provide food items, welfare materials and other basic necessities to widows, orphans and other vulnerable persons in Ebonyi State.
Mrs. Ibiadi stated this in a statement made available to journalists, noting that the non-governmental organization, which was established about 15 years ago, has consistently reached out to different categories of disadvantaged people across the state.
According to her, the foundation’s interventions cut across widows, orphans, vulnerable children and underprivileged youths, irrespective of tribe, religion, political affiliation or social background.
She described herself as a natural-born philanthropist, adding that meeting the needs of people has always been her passion and calling in life.
“My joy comes from putting smiles on the faces of people by meeting their needs, advocating on their behalf and giving them hope and faith, no matter the situation they find themselves in,” she said.
Ibiadi explained that her commitment to humanitarian service dates back to her childhood, stressing that the establishment of the NGO has provided a structured platform to do more with the limited resources available to her.
“When you do good to people, you are sowing into the future. The Bible says, ‘Give and it shall be given unto you.’ I want to reach more people and make the world a better place than I met it,” she added.
The BMFWOD CEO listed the aims and objectives of the foundation to include the provision of emergency food relief and basic necessities to widows, orphans, vulnerable children and disadvantaged persons in Nigeria and beyond.
Other objectives, she said, include sponsoring access to quality education, scholarships and vocational skills training for orphans and underprivileged youths, as well as advocating for the rights, dignity and welfare of marginalized populations globally.
She further noted that the foundation also provides emotional, spiritual, psychosocial and practical support to individuals and families in crisis, regardless of location, ethnicity, gender or religion.
Ibiadi revealed that activities lined up for the year include visitations to motherless babies’ homes, homes for the elderly, schools and churches, as well as outreach programmes to selected families.
She used the opportunity to appeal to well-meaning Nigerians at home and in the diaspora to support the foundation financially and materially to enable it expand its reach to rural communities across the country and beyond.
The NGO boss also expressed gratitude to her husband and other Nigerians who have supported her humanitarian vision over the years.
“By the grace of God, the Blessing-Micheal Foundation will continue to do more for the people of Ebonyi State and beyond,” she said.
