Governor Nwifuru gave the commendation on Thursday in Abakaliki during the decoration ceremony of newly promoted officers of the corps.
The governor who was represented at the event by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Grace Umezurike, congratulating the promoted officers, and lauded the Ebonyi State Commandant of the NSCDC, Commandant Francis Chika Nnadi, for his commitment to duty and the visible transformation recorded under his leadership.
He described the Commandant as passionate and result-oriented, noting that the state government deeply appreciates the role of the NSCDC in strengthening internal security and maintaining peace across Ebonyi State.
“It is one thing to have responsibility, and it is another to be passionate about it. The Ebonyi State Government appreciates the good work you are doing to keep the state safe,” the governor stated.
Governor Nwifuru further commended the newly promoted officers, attributing their elevation to outstanding performance, dedication, and consistency.
He prayed for continued growth, professionalism, and excellence among officers of the corps.
Earlier in his address, the Ebonyi State Commandant of NSCDC, Commandant Francis Chika Nnadi, described the promotion exercise as a call to greater responsibility, stressing that the reward for hard work is more work.
He disclosed that the Ebonyi State Command had recorded remarkable progress and had now attained the status of a “special command,” attributing the achievement to teamwork and the support of the Commandant-General of the NSCDC.
Commandant Nnadi further revealed plans by the command to establish an NSCDC clinic, inaugurate a senior officers’ mess, and roll out over 20 programmes aimed at improving operational efficiency and personnel welfare.
On security, he assured residents that the corps is fully prepared to safeguard critical national infrastructure and ensure adequate security during upcoming elections.
“Ebonyians can go about their lawful businesses without fear. We are on top of our game, and all security agencies are working as one family,” he assured.
The Deputy Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedu Onah, also lauded the leadership of the NSCDC Commandant, describing the transformation of the command as remarkable.
According to him, promotions are a reward for diligence and a moment for thanksgiving, adding that the Ebonyi State Command now has a positive story to tell.
Onah further eulogized the NSCDC for providing disciplined and effective personnel during his tenure, describing them as “the best of men.”
Similarly, the State Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Prince Richard Idike, acknowledged the improved security situation in the state, attributing it largely to the synergy among the NSCDC, the Nigeria Police Force, and other security agencies.
Idike charged the newly promoted officers to view their new ranks as a call to higher service, emphasizing that effective security management and youth engagement must go hand in hand.
The event, which was attended by top government officials, security chiefs, and community stakeholders, underscored the growing confidence of the Ebonyi State Government in the NSCDC as a key pillar in maintaining peace, security, and public safety across the state.
