The Ebonyi State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Uchenna Igwe, has gifted his driver and Special Assistant brand-new Camry cars, while also distributing four tricycles and a Topstar truck to other beneficiaries as part of the 2026 New Year celebrations.
The presentation took place on New Year’s Day at the commissioner’s residence in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital.
Igwe explained that the gesture was aimed at appreciating the commitment, dedication, and unwavering support of the beneficiaries, which contributed to his success in carrying out his duties as assigned by the Ebonyi State Government.
He urged them to remain steadfast and committed in order to achieve greater success.
The commissioner also expressed gratitude to the State Governor, Chief Francis Nwifuru, for finding him worthy to serve in his administration, pledging to extend the governor’s spirit of generosity to the grassroots.
“His Excellency has always told us that if you receive something, you should try to share it with others. That is what we are doing today. With these gestures, they will know that there is hope if we continue to work for His Excellency,” he said.
Igwe used the occasion to call on council chairmen across the state to sustain peace and order in rural communities in 2026, stressing that meaningful development cannot thrive in an atmosphere of rancour and acrimony.
Speaking at the event, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Project Monitoring, Engr. Chukwuma Nwiboko, praised the commissioner’s philanthropic disposition and encouraged the beneficiaries to make effective use of the items.
Also speaking, the Special Assistant to the commissioner, Barr. Chibueze Enu, expressed profound gratitude to Hon. Igwe, describing the gesture as overwhelming and praying for God’s abundant blessings upon him.
