The Ebonyi State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has congratulated Coach Starplus Izuikem Anista on his appointment as the Head Coach of Abakaliki Football Club.
The congratulatory message followed the approval of the appointment by the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, a move SWAN described as timely and well-deserved.
In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman of Ebonyi SWAN, Mr. Ndubuisi Nwogha, and the Ag. Secretary, Mr. Victor Nwegede, the association said the appointment reflects the confidence reposed in Coach Anista’s professional competence, technical depth, and understanding of modern football development.
According to the statement, SWAN believes that the emergence of Coach Anista at this critical phase of Abakaliki FC’s growth signals a renewed commitment to excellence, discipline, and competitive success for the club.
“As critical stakeholders in sports development and promotion, Ebonyi State SWAN charges the new head coach to deploy his wealth of experience, leadership qualities, and innovative ideas in building a formidable team that will compete credibly at the national level and bring pride to the
people of Ebonyi State,” the statement read.
The association further assured the new coach of robust, professional, and constructive support from sports journalists in the state, stressing its commitment to fair reportage, positive engagement, and strategic collaboration aimed at projecting Abakaliki FC to the global sports community.
SWAN also commended the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Prince Hon. Richard Ugo-Idike, for his visionary leadership, as well as Senator Obinna Ogba, Chairman of Abakaliki FC, for his unwavering motivation and support toward the growth of the club.
The association wished Coach Starplus Anista a successful and impactful tenure as he begins his assignment with Abakaliki FC.
