Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State and Senator Kenneth Eze - Chairman Senate Committee on Information and National Orientation and member representing Ebonyi Central Senatorial District.
Stakeholders of Izzikworo Clan, the largest clan in Ezza Nation, Ebonyi State, have unanimously adopted Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and Senator Kenneth Chukwuemeka Eze as their sole candidates for a second term ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The adoption was reached at a well-attended stakeholders’ meeting held on Sunday at the country home of Senator Kenneth Eze.
The meeting attracted political leaders, traditional rulers, elders, youth and women leaders, professionals, party faithful and community representatives from across the Izzikworo Clan.
The gathering was chaired by Dr. Kelvin Nwankwo, former National Deputy President of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), and featured the participation of former and serving government officials, National Assembly veterans, members of traditional institutions, academics, business leaders, industrialists, market women, youth groups and community leaders.
Moving the motion for adoption, Barrister Friday Agbom, National Secretary of Izzikworo Youths, commended the working relationship between Governor Nwifuru and Senator Eze, describing it as critical to peace, inclusive governance and grassroots development in Ebonyi State.
Agbom cited ongoing road construction projects across Izzikworo communities, youth empowerment initiatives, market-to-street economic inclusion programmes and community development projects as key outcomes of the current administration.
He also highlighted Senator Eze’s facilitation of over 450 federal job placements within a short period, describing it as unprecedented in the history of the Ebonyi Central Senatorial District.
According to him, tangible development projects were visible across all communities in Izzikworo, noting that peace and empowerment had replaced years of uncertainty.
He thereafter formally moved the motion adopting Governor Nwifuru and Senator Eze as the sole candidates of the Izzikworo people for the 2027 elections.
The motion was seconded by Nicodemus Azi, who called on stakeholders to sustain unity and support leaders whose performances, he said, had earned public confidence.
He stressed that the endorsement was based on performance and inclusive leadership rather than sentiment.
In separate remarks, former National Assembly member, Chief Ugo Chima, described the adoption as a reflection of renewed unity within Ezza Nation.
He noted that internal cohesion, once under strain, was being restored through purposeful leadership and expressed confidence that ongoing development efforts would translate into electoral success.
Other speakers, including former House of Representatives member Chief Lazarus Ogbee; former Secretary to the Ebonyi State Government, Dr. Boniface Chima; and former Chairman of Ezza South Local Government Area, Chief Stephen Akochi, among others described the gathering as a celebration of effective governance and credible representation.
They said the endorsement reflected the genuine will of the people, anchored on peacebuilding, accessibility and development-oriented leadership.
Adding traditional authority to the endorsement, the traditional ruler of Echera Community, HRH Eze Martins Nweke, described the adoption as well deserved and offered prayers for sustained peace and unity.
He further expressed confidence that Izzikworo Clan would produce a successor to Governor Nwifuru after his second tenure, describing the clan as politically mature and development-focused.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Senator Kenneth Eze expressed gratitude to the people of Izzikworo for the confidence reposed in him and Governor Nwifuru, describing the adoption as historic.
Eze noted that he is the first son of Izzikworo Clan to be elected into the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, a milestone he said he would not take for granted.
He emphasized the importance of unity, love and peace as foundations for development, noting that the large turnout of stakeholders reflected a collective commitment to harmony and progress.
He also reaffirmed the commitment of the 10th Senate to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, assuring that the National Assembly would continue to collaborate with the Executive in the national interest.
According to the senator, the Senate had carefully reviewed the President’s eight-point agenda and remained convinced of its focus on economic reform and infrastructure development.
He stressed that the Senate would support policies and programmes that promote national growth and stability.
The event ended with calls for unity, loyalty and sustained collective action to ensure leadership continuity and accelerated development in Ebonyi State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
It would be recalled that Izzikworo Clan comprises Amagu, Amaezekwe, Amana, Nsokara, Amudo, Okofia, Ikwu-Ato Idembia, Umuagu Idembia and Echera communities.
