The Ebonyi State College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ngbo, has celebrated its immediate past Provost, Elder Stephen Nwamkpuma, while highlighting major strides in digital transformation aimed at improving academic efficiency and service delivery.
At a send-forth ceremony held in his honour, the Provost, Princess Chibueze Chetachi Jerry Osulor, said the institution’s transition to a digital results management system has significantly enhanced the processing, accessibility, and reliability of students’ examination records.
She disclosed that following the most recent examinations, more than 70 per cent of students were able to access their results seamlessly through the upgraded platform, describing the development as a major leap toward modernising the college’s academic and administrative operations.
Osulor attributed the achievement to deliberate investments in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure, as well as strategic leadership focused on aligning the institution with global best practices in health sciences education.
According to her, the digital system has streamlined workflows, strengthened data integrity, reduced administrative delays, and improved overall institutional efficiency. She warned that institutions without accreditation-compliant digital frameworks risk compromising both student satisfaction and institutional credibility.
The Provost also highlighted ongoing academic progress, noting that three out of the college’s four departments have successfully secured accreditation. She described this as vital to sustaining academic standards and ensuring the competence of graduates in the health sector.
Commending the outgoing Provost, Osulor acknowledged his role in staff development, particularly his efforts in securing permanent appointments for five ad hoc staff members and facilitating employment opportunities for others. She described his exit as a significant loss to the institution.
In her remarks, the Registrar, Mrs Grace Umahi, praised the current administration for its purposeful leadership, noting that the digital reforms were the outcome of careful planning and coordinated implementation.
Similarly, the Bursar, Mr Philip Ibinna, lauded Nwamkpuma’s legacy achievements and expressed confidence in the continued progress of the college under Osulor’s leadership.
Student representatives, including officials of the Students’ Union Government (SUG), also expressed satisfaction with the improved academic experience, particularly the ease and timeliness of accessing examination results compared to previous challenges.
The event featured goodwill messages and tributes from stakeholders, underscoring the growing importance of digital innovation in strengthening health education and institutional governance across Nigeria’s tertiary education sector.
In his response, Nwamkpuma expressed gratitude to the management and staff for the honour, pledging his continued support for the growth and advancement of the college.
