Former Anambra State Governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, visited Aba yesterday, Saturday, 28th March, to meet with stakeholders of the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) and honour an invitation from the state’s Senator, Enyinnaya Abaribe.
Obi, who engaged in a one-hour interview with Magic FM—the first radio and TV interview he has given this year, highlighted the industrial potential of Aba, particularly its garment and shoe production sectors.
He noted that these industries, if well managed and supported, could generate revenue for Nigeria comparable to what Bangladesh and Vietnam earn from similar products.
“I speak about moving the country from consumption to production. Aba remains one of the cities that will contribute immensely to that,” Obi said.
During his visit, Obi also commended the warm reception from Senator Abaribe and ADC stakeholders, and praised Governor Alex Otti for his work in Enyimba City.
He emphasized that Nigeria’s progress hinges on competent leadership that combines capacity, compassion, and commitment, similar to other nations that have successfully industrialized.
“A New Nigeria Is POssible,” Obi concluded, reiterating his long-standing call for visionary leadership and sustainable economic development.
