Stakeholders from Alioma and Ezekuna Alioma autonomous communities in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State have declared their support for the second-term bid of Governor Francis Nwifuru, while appealing to the governor to facilitate the return of Chief Chinedu Awo to complete his tenure as representative of Ohaukwu North constituency in the State House of Assembly.
The endorsement was made during a special thanksgiving ceremony held at Ebeta Community Secondary School, Ezekuna Alioma, to celebrate the restoration of peace in the old Effium zone after years of communal unrest.
Speaking at the event, the National Leader of the communities, Emmanuel Igboke-Owuru, expressed gratitude to God for the return of peace, attributing the development to the intervention of Governor Nwifuru.
He noted that the most meaningful way to appreciate the governor’s efforts was through overwhelming support for his re-election.
He also urged the governor to heed the call of the people by allowing Chief Chinedu Awo to complete his tenure in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, stressing that such a move would promote equity and justice in the constituency.
In his remarks, the President General of Alioma Development Union, Monday Eze, described the demand for the second-term bids of both Governor Nwifuru and Chief Awo as genuine and justified.
He cited their track records in public service and assured that the people of the area would mobilize massive support to sustain their leadership.
Also lending their voices, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ward Chairmen of Effium Ward 2 and Wigbeke Ward 2, Comrade Paulinus Okeh and Mr. Emeka Ufoo, respectively, commended Awo for strengthening the party’s presence in the area. They reaffirmed their commitment to his return to the State Assembly.
Other speakers at the event, including the Chairman of Alioma-Ezekuna Development Union (Ogun State chapter), Mr. Solomon Utobo; the Coordinator of Alioma for Nwifuru (FON) in Ogun State, Comrade Augustine Igwe; and the President General of Umueze Development Union (Home and Abroad), Comrade Cornelius Ogudu, commended both Governor Nwifuru and Chief Awo for their roles in restoring peace to the troubled communities.
They pledged to intensify mobilization efforts in support of their political aspirations.
The well-attended ceremony drew a cross-section of stakeholders, including community leaders, women and youth groups, as well as chieftains of the ruling All Progressives Congress, reflecting a broad consensus on the need to sustain peace and continuity in leadership in the area.
