The Grassroots Advocacy for Tinubu and Nwifuru (GATFON) in Ebonyi State has declared its readiness to deliver a comprehensive electoral victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru in the 2027 general elections, insisting that opposition parties have no realistic pathway to success in the state.
The group made the assertion during the inauguration of its zonal and local government coordinators in Ebonyi Central, an event that drew key stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), party executives, and grassroots mobilisers from across the zone.
Speaking at the event, the State Coordinator of GATFON, Barr. Patrick Anayo Mbam (Omata), said the organisation has put in place an extensive mobilisation framework designed to penetrate communities at the ward and polling unit levels, with the objective of converting widespread political support into electoral dominance.
He maintained that the opposition lacks both the structural depth and grassroots acceptance required to compete effectively, stressing that the APC’s entrenched presence across Ebonyi would ultimately determine the outcome of the polls.
“Our mandate is to ensure a landslide victory. From the ward level to the polling units, we are building a system that guarantees results. The opposition, as it stands, has no chance in Ebonyi,” Mbam said.
According to him, the advocacy group would embark on sustained sensitisation campaigns across rural and urban communities, highlighting what he described as the developmental strides of both the federal and state administrations as justification for continuity.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Mineral Development and Chairman of the occasion, Mr. Chidi Onyia, underscored the strategic importance of grassroots politics in Nigeria’s electoral system, noting that political success is fundamentally rooted in popular support at the community level.
He urged young people to remain law-abiding while actively engaging in the democratic process, adding that the APC’s strength lies in its connection with the people.
“When you have the people, you have nothing to fear. Elections are not won by noise but by structure and grassroots presence. That is where we are strongest,” Onyia stated, dismissing opposition activities as politically insignificant.
In his remarks, the Zonal Coordinator of GATFON in Ebonyi Central, Mr. Laz Ogbee, reaffirmed the zone’s commitment to delivering overwhelming support for both Tinubu and Nwifuru, noting that mobilisation efforts were already gaining traction across communities.
He dismissed speculations about potential challengers in the 2027 governorship race, describing such narratives as premature and lacking political substance.
“We are on ground in every community. Our structures are intact, and our people are aligned. There is no cause for concern,” Ogbee said.
The Chairman of the APC in Ebonyi State, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, used the occasion to caution party members against acts of disloyalty and sycophancy, warning that the party would not tolerate conduct capable of undermining its cohesion ahead of the elections.
Emegha emphasised that while internal consultations on future political positions were ongoing, members must prioritise party unity and collective interest over personal ambition.
“The party remains supreme. This is not the time for individual pursuits but for consolidation. Loyalty and commitment will be recognised, but indiscipline will not be condoned,” he said.
He further advised members to desist from premature political manoeuvring, noting that decisions regarding candidacies and appointments would be taken in consultation with party leadership at the appropriate time.
Stakeholders from various local government areas, including Ezza South, Ikwo, Ishielu and Ezza North, also pledged unwavering support for the re-election of both the President and the Governor, citing ongoing infrastructural development and governance reforms as indicators of effective leadership.
The Executive Chairman of Ezza South Local Government Area, Mrs. Euphemia Nwali, her Ikwo counterpart, Barrister Sunday Nwankwo and that of Ezza North, Chief Moses Ogodo Ali Nome, described the inauguration as a critical step toward strengthening coordination among party supporters at all levels, expressing confidence in the group’s capacity to deliver results.
Similarly, representatives of the group’s national leadership commended the Ebonyi chapter for its proactive approach, noting that GATFON’s focus on grassroots engagement distinguishes it from conventional political support groups.
In his acceptance remarks, the Coordinator of the group in Ezza South, Dr. Vincent Nweze, assured party leaders of total commitment, pledging that the structure put in place would translate into measurable electoral outcomes.
“We are fully prepared to justify the confidence reposed in us. Across our local governments, we are committed to delivering results that reflect our strength and unity,” he said.
The event concluded with a renewed call for intensified grassroots mobilisation, as coordinators across the zone reiterated their resolve to secure a decisive victory for the APC in Ebonyi State in the 2027 general elections.
