....Describes death of Bishop Chukwu as devastating blow to Church
The Chairman of Zelus Group of Companies and Chief Executive Officer of Zelunjo Empowerment Foundation, Tochukwu Ogalegu, has described the death of the Catholic Bishop of Abakaliki Diocese, Peter Nworie Chukwu, as a devastating blow to the Church, the Christian community, and Ebonyi State at large.
Ogalegu made the remark while reacting to the passing of the cleric, expressing deep sorrow over what he termed the loss of a “devoted servant of God” who dedicated his life to pastoral service, moral guidance, and the spiritual growth of the faithful.
In a condolence message issued on Sunday, Ogalegu said the news of the bishop’s death came as a painful shock, noting that Bishop Chukwu’s ministry was marked by humility, discipline, and unwavering commitment to the teachings of the Catholic Church.
He described the late bishop as a “shepherd of rare virtue” who contributed significantly to peacebuilding, community cohesion, and the strengthening of Christian values within and beyond the Diocese of Abakaliki.
According to him, Bishop Chukwu’s episcopal leadership reflected wisdom and compassion, adding that his legacy would remain evident in the lives of clergy and lay faithful who benefitted from his guidance.
“The death of Bishop Chukwu is a devastating blow not only to the Catholic Church but also to Ebonyi State and the nation at large,” Ogalegu stated.
He extended condolences to the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria, the clergy, religious leaders, and members of the Catholic Diocese of Abakaliki, as well as the immediate family of the deceased.
Ogalegu also expressed solidarity with the Government and people of Ebonyi State during what he described as a period of grief, praying for God to grant the late bishop eternal rest and comfort to all those mourning his passing.
