The Ebonyi State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has commended Senator Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi for his citizen-centred approach to governance, describing him as a role model for emerging leaders in the state.
The State Chairman of NYCN, Douglas Ochishi, gave the commendation during an inspection and commissioning tour of projects executed by the senator across Ebonyi North Senatorial District.
Ochishi said the lawmaker’s performance reflects a strong commitment to grassroots development and responsive governance, noting that the projects undertaken span critical sectors such as education, infrastructure, and human capital development.
He described Nwebonyi as “a performer whose legacy will stand the test of time,” adding that the scale and impact of the projects were evident in the communities visited.
According to him, the senator’s leadership style offers a practical example of people-oriented governance and should serve as a guide for young people aspiring to leadership positions.
“This is what leadership should be. We call on young people who are interested in leadership to emulate Senator Nwebonyi’s style, which prioritises the needs of the people,” he said.
Ochishi further stated that the senator’s interventions in youth empowerment and community development align with the expectations of young people in the state, drawing parallels with the governance approach of Governor Francis Nwifuru.
Senator Nwebonyi has recently received commendations from various stakeholders for projects including road construction, installation of solar-powered streetlights, provision of classroom blocks, and empowerment initiatives for youths and farmers across the district.
The council reiterated the need for leaders at all levels to adopt inclusive and accountable governance to drive sustainable development.
It also commended the senator for aligning with the development strides of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, noting improvements in human capital development, infrastructure, healthcare, education, and security in the state.
