The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, has advised party members aspiring to elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections to obtain clearance from the state governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, before purchasing nomination forms.
Emegha gave the warning on Monday in Afikpo during the inauguration of the Ebonyi South Senatorial Zone chapter of the Grassroots Advocacy for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Nwifuru (GATFON).
He cautioned that any aspirant who proceeds to obtain nomination forms without the governor’s directive risks wasting both time and financial resources, stressing that payments made for such forms are non-refundable.
“I feel I should advise those seeking elective positions to seek the Governor’s counsel before going to purchase nomination forms. Anything outside the Governor’s directive is a waste of resources,” Emegha said.
The APC chairman noted that the governor remains committed to ensuring fairness, equity and justice in the selection of candidates across constituencies in the state.
He also urged aspirants not to be influenced by social media campaigns or sponsored endorsements, assuring that due process would be followed when the time comes.
Emegha described Governor Nwifuru as a fair-minded leader with deep knowledge of party members across the state, adding that his decisions would reflect the collective interest of stakeholders.
He commended the GATFON group for promoting what he described as the achievements and policies of President Tinubu and Governor Nwifuru, noting that both leaders deserve the continued support of party faithful.
Earlier, the Ebonyi State Coordinator of GATFON, Patrick Anayo Mbam, said the group was established to mobilise grassroots support for the re-election of President Tinubu and Governor Nwifuru in 2027.
Mbam urged local government coordinators within the zone to intensify mobilisation efforts at the ward level to consolidate support ahead of the elections.
Speaking on behalf of local government coordinators, the GATFON Coordinator in Edda Local Government Area, Dick Agwu Dike, assured the APC leadership of their readiness to work towards securing victory for all party candidates in the 2027 polls.
