A prominent businessman and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State, Chief Chibuike Peter Orogwu, widely known as “Baby Oku,” has formally resigned his membership of the ruling party, citing personal reasons.
Orogwu, an Ebonyi-born billionaire and Chief Executive Officer of Chuby-Zion Ltd, conveyed his decision in a resignation letter dated March 12, 2026, addressed to the APC Ward Chairman in Amudo/Okoffia Ward, Ezza South Local Government Area of the state.
In the letter, the industrialist requested that his name be expunged from the party’s membership register at all levels, effectively bringing an end to his affiliation with the APC.
“I, Orogwu Zion-Peter Chibuike, of Amudo Okoffia Ward, Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, hereby resign my membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and request that my name be deleted from the membership register of the party,” the letter read.
While expressing appreciation to the leadership and members of the party for the opportunity to participate in its activities, Orogwu maintained that his decision was based on personal considerations.
“I appreciate the leaders and members of the APC for the opportunity given to me to participate in the activities of the party. However, I have decided to resign from the party for personal reasons and I wish the party well in all her future endeavours,” he stated.
Though the businessman did not elaborate on the specific reasons behind his resignation, his exit is seen as a notable development within the Ebonyi APC, given his influence as a major stakeholder and financier.
Orogwu is a well-known figure in the state’s business landscape, with interests spanning manufacturing and consumer goods. He is reputed for producing popular herbal alcoholic beverages, including Baby Oku Bitters and Dorobucci Bitters, among others.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official response from the APC leadership at the ward, local government, or state levels regarding his resignation.
