A prominent business leader and philanthropist, Chief Barrister Tochukwu Ogalegu, has commended workers across Ebonyi State for their resilience, dedication, and contributions to socio-economic development, as the world marks Workers’ Day 2026.
In a statement issued on Thursday to commemorate the annual celebration, Ogalegu commended the state’s workforce for what he described as their “dogged commitment and invaluable role” in driving growth and sustaining the nation’s economy.
He noted that the efforts of workers remain the foundation upon which development is built, stressing that their sacrifices continue to strengthen both the state and the country at large.
“Your labour remains the bedrock of our economy, and your steadfast commitment consistently drives growth, productivity, and national progress.
"The fruits of your efforts are evident in the development of our dear state and the stability of our nation," he said.
Ogalegu, who is Chairman of Zelus Group of Companies and Chief Executive Officer of Zelunjo Empowerment Foundation, used the occasion to reaffirm his commitment to improving the welfare and dignity of workers through sustained empowerment initiatives.
Highlighting his contributions to employment generation, he disclosed that he has facilitated federal job opportunities for over 500 individuals, noting that expanding access to meaningful work remains central to his vision.
According to him, “true leadership lies in creating opportunities that translate into improved welfare and dignity for our people.”
He further emphasized the need for strategic investment in human capital development, particularly through youth empowerment, skills acquisition programmes, and sustainable initiatives aimed at reducing unemployment.
Ogalegu also expressed optimism about the future of Ebonyi State, stating that with collective resolve and purposeful leadership, greater opportunities could be unlocked for citizens.
While reiterating his commitment to public service, he hinted at his intention to seek a legislative position in 2027, explaining that it would provide a broader platform to advance policies that support workers and promote inclusive growth.
He assured the people of Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency that their welfare and advancement would remain a top priority.
“Together, we can shape a future where hard work is duly rewarded, opportunities are equitably accessible, and every citizen is empowered to thrive,” he said.
While celebrating the strength, sacrifices, and enduring spirit of workers, Ogalegu urged them to remain steadfast in their contributions to nation-building.
