The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ebonyi State Chapter, has commended the leadership style of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, describing their administrations as people-oriented and development-driven.
The State Chairman of NYCN, Comrade Ochishi, gave the commendation while receiving a delegation of Ebonyi youths resident in Anambra State during a familiarisation visit to the NYCN Annex Headquarters at Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, Abakaliki.
The delegation was led by Comrade Ekuma Chibuike alongside Mr. Nwanganga Dennis, Mr. Elochukwu Ikegu and Mr. Okemini Patrick.
Ochishi stated that the administration of President Tinubu had maintained peace in policy implementation, while Governor Nwifuru had continued to transform Ebonyi State through infrastructural development and economic reforms aimed at improving the lives of citizens.
He urged Ebonyi youths residing outside the state to “think home and think Ebonyi,” stressing that sustainable development could only be achieved when citizens contribute meaningfully to the growth of their homeland.
According to him, many Ebonyians who travelled outside the state often neglected their communities, despite the growing business opportunities and improved investment climate currently being witnessed in Ebonyi.
The NYCN chairman called on youths in the diaspora to take advantage of the business prospects at the Ebonyi International Market and other emerging economic hubs within the state, noting that the prevailing peace and security under the present administration had enhanced ease of doing business.
He maintained that there was “no place like home,” adding that the state now compares favourably with major commercial cities across the country.
Speaking on the 2027 political landscape, Ochishi urged eligible Ebonyians living outside the state to return home and register for their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to enable them participate actively in the democratic process.
He declared that youths, market groups and various stakeholders across the state were already backing Governor Nwifuru’s second term bid, citing what he described as the governor’s “unprecedented achievements” across ministries and parastatals.
The youth leader, however, cautioned government appointees and youth leaders occupying public offices against betraying the confidence reposed in them by the people.
He warned that public offices remained positions of trust which must be used to advance the welfare of youths and citizens, stressing that non-performing appointees would eventually be held accountable.
Ochishi further lauded Governor Nwifuru for demonstrating that young leaders could effectively manage positions of authority and deliver quality governance.
On infrastructure, he said ongoing projects across the state were gradually nearing completion and would stand the test of time as legacy projects.
He highlighted projects such as the Vanco Tunnel, the Iziogo Market Underground Tunnel linking Onuenyim Road, and other road and bridge projects connecting parts of the South-East and Northern Nigeria, describing them as major economic drivers capable of boosting commerce, transportation and regional integration.
He also commended ongoing rural road projects and inter-state bridge connections aimed at enhancing economic development between Ebonyi and neighbouring states.
The NYCN chairmanurging Ebonyi youths across the country to remain committed to the development of the state and the nation at large.
“Think home, think Ebonyi State, think Governor Francis Nwifuru. Build the youth, build the nation,” he stated.
