The All Progressives Congress (APC) has set a target of securing at least 500,000 votes in the forthcoming Ekiti State governorship election as part of a broader mobilisation strategy for the re-election of Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
The target was announced on Wednesday during the inauguration of the party’s National Campaign Council held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja.
The council, chaired by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, brought together APC governors, federal lawmakers, party executives, women leaders, youths, and persons with disabilities drawn from across the country to coordinate the party’s campaign structure ahead of the poll.
Speaking at the event, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State said the APC was working to significantly surpass its previous electoral performance in the state, describing the 500,000-vote benchmark as a reflection of confidence in the incumbent governor’s leadership.
He said Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration had recorded notable achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and social welfare, which would form the basis of the party’s campaign messaging.
Uba Sani also noted that the APC had strengthened its grassroots structures across Ekiti State’s 16 local government areas and 177 wards to ensure effective mobilisation.
According to him, the anticipated victory would also reflect the growing acceptance of the reforms being implemented by President Bola Tinubu’s administration at the federal level.
The National Chairman of the APC, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, also commended Oyebanji’s performance, saying the governor had justified the confidence reposed in him by both the party and the people of Ekiti State.
He expressed optimism that the APC would secure a decisive victory in the election based on the governor’s track record and the party’s unified campaign strategy.
The Ekiti governorship election is expected to serve as a key political test ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the APC expressing confidence in delivering a wide-margin victory for Oyebanji.
